Bio-Bubble STP: A Sustainable Solution for Antler Homes’ Development

Introduction

Having gained planning permission for a neighbouring parcel of land to Oakfield Lane, Antler Homes is embarking on a new development of 27 units at Ashford Hill. This project follows the success of a previous development of 35 houses built by Persimmon Homes, which was served by a Bio-Bubble Wastewater Treatment Plant (WwTP). In this newsletter, we explore how the Bio-Bubble STP contributes to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.

Bio-Bubble Technologies: A Holistic Approach

Bio-Bubble Technologies is a pioneering company that focuses on reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions in wastewater treatment. Their installations include full-scale municipal, commercial, industrial, and domestic sewage treatment. The Bio-Bubble STP stands out for its innovative approach and high-quality, customized turn-key solutions.

Advanced Aeration Process

The heart of the Bio-Bubble STP lies in its award-winning process: Advanced Aeration. Unlike traditional systems that separate wastewater and sludge treatment, the Bio-Bubble combines both within a single reactor. This approach optimizes efficiency and minimizes environmental impact. Here are some key features:

Exceptional Effluent Quality: The Bio-Bubble consistently achieves discharge levels well below regulatory limits. Typical effluent quality includes BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) levels below 10 mg/l, suspended solids (SS) below 15 mg/l, and ammonia nitrogen (AmmN) below 1 mg/l.

Low Energy Consumption: Energy input is remarkably low, making it compatible with other treatment processes. The Bio-Bubble’s energy efficiency contributes to overall sustainability.

Minimal Carbon Footprint: By efficiently digesting organic loads, the Bio-Bubble reduces the need for regular tanker visits to remove primary sludge, thereby keeping tanker traffic on local roads to a minimum.

Process Monitoring and Management

For developments like Antler Homes, process monitoring and management are crucial. The Bio-Bubble employs a 4G network connection to monitor day-to-day functionality, flow rates, effluent clarity, and sludge production. Key components of the process include biological screening, primary tank mixing, full biological treatment, and attenuation of final effluent.

Conclusion

The Bio-Bubble STP offers a sustainable solution for wastewater treatment, aligning with Antler Homes’ commitment to environmental responsibility. By combining cutting-edge technology with efficient processes, the Bio-Bubble contributes to a greener future.

Are you experiencing issues with high mitigation costs - we may be able to help.

Advanced Aeration’s Bio-Bubble process IS the solution, offering unrivalled opportunities to achieve final effluent Nitrogen results of <0.7mg/l to reduce mitigation in an environmentally responsible and cost-effective way.

The real-world nutrient reduction performance evidence has been accepted by Natural England for the use of a Total Nitrogen reduction level of 88.5%, now the new calculator is in use we are using a conservative reduction figure of <5mg/l.  The original approval consisted of submitting 2 years real life certified lab results.

Should you require further information or assistance regarding Nutrient removal please email us (press button below) - provide as much information as possible and/or contact details.
